Lash Lift & Tint — The Complete Guide (and Why We Chose It Over Extensions)

If you are weighing up what to do with your lashes — lift, tint, extensions, or nothing at all — this is the guide I wish every client could read before their first appointment. It covers what a lash lift and tint actually is, what it costs, how long it lasts, how to look after it, and an honest comparison with extensions — including why, after offering both, the lift is now the only lash treatment on my menu.

What is a lash lift and tint?

A lash lift is a treatment that lifts and curls your own natural lashes from the root, so they sweep upwards instead of growing straight out. A tint is applied in the same appointment, darkening the lashes for added depth and definition.

Nothing is added to your lashes. No fibres, no adhesive, no weight. The treatment works entirely with what you already have — which is exactly why it suits people who want a polished, natural result rather than an obviously "done" look.

The appointment takes around 60 minutes, costs £50, and the results last six to eight weeks — growing out gradually and evenly with your natural lash cycle.

Lash lift vs lash extensions — the honest comparison

Extensions attach a synthetic lash to each of your natural lashes. Done well, the initial result is fuller and more dramatic than a lift can achieve — there is no pretending otherwise. But the comparison does not end on day one.

That maintenance difference is why Eternal Glow Beauty no longer offers extensions. I would rather do one treatment that works with your natural lashes and asks nothing of you afterwards than sell a maintenance cycle. If you are committed to the extensions look, a dedicated lash bar will serve you well — and if you are extension-weary and want your own lashes back, the lift is where that starts.

What happens in the appointment

1. Consultation and patch check. We talk through the curl you want — natural sweep or a more open, doll-eyed lift — and check the tint suits you. A patch test is required at least 48 hours before your first tinting appointment; it is quick, and it is for your safety.
2. Shielding. Your lashes are set over a soft silicone shield sized to your eye and the curl we agreed.
3. Lifting. A gentle solution relaxes the lash structure so it takes the new shape, followed by a setting solution that locks it in.
4. Tinting. The tint is applied, darkening the lashes from root to tip.
5. Nourishing finish. A conditioning serum finishes the treatment.

You keep your eyes closed and rest. There is no discomfort, and you leave with the finished result. No downtime.

Lash lift aftercare — the complete list

The first 24 hours are the only period that needs real care:

• Keep lashes completely dry — no water, steam, swimming, or heavy workouts.
• No eye makeup or makeup remover around the eyes.
• Don't rub, touch, or sleep face-down — the lift is still setting.

After 24 hours, the treatment is fully set and your routine goes back to normal — water, mascara, swimming, sleeping however you like. To keep the lift at its best across the six to eight weeks:

• Use oil-free makeup remover around the eyes where you can; heavy oils can relax the curl faster.
• Brush lashes upward with a clean spoolie in the morning.
• A nourishing lash serum is a nice-to-have, not a must.

That is the entire aftercare list. Compare it with the extensions regime: daily specialist cleansing, no oils ever, careful sleeping, infills every two to three weeks.

Who suits a lash lift?

Almost everyone — that is the quiet advantage of working with your natural lashes. It is particularly good for:

• Straight or downward-growing lashes — the lift produces the most dramatic transformation here, because the length you already have is finally visible.
• Fair lashes — the tint alone makes a striking difference.
• Contact lens wearers and sensitive eyes — nothing sits on the lash line afterwards.
• Busy schedules — one hour every couple of months, nothing in between.
• Former extension wearers — the lift gives shape and definition back while your natural lashes recover their strength.

The one honest limitation: a lift cannot add length or volume that is not there. If your natural lashes are very sparse, we will talk realistically at consultation about what the result will look like for you.
